The Cascade Horizon Band is led by Sue Steiger, our only director since the band was created in 2003. During these years Sue has brought the band to ever-increasing levels of performance.

Sue is both an educator and musician. She has completed 33 years of teaching including the last 19 years at High Desert Middle School. Over 200 students participated in her music programs each year and received superior ratings at district festivals. In 2008 she received the Rotary award for Excellence in Education.

A graduate of California State University Long Beach with a Bachelor of Music Degree she completed graduate work at California State University Long Beach, California State University at Los Angeles, Lewis and Clark College and Portland State University.

Sue now enjoys a well-earned retirement from the school system … and continues as our Music Director. She is loved by the members of the band. Her good humor and ability has brought a group of musicians with a wide range of abilities up to concert performance level, and that will carry on.
